Invisalign
Lake Country Dental
Dr. Lisa Mulkin is proud to offer residents of Geneva, NY Invisalign® treatment. Invisalign takes a modern approach to straightening teeth, using a custom-made series of aligners created just for you. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth. There are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten. Wearing the aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place, based on the exact course of treatment Dr. Mulkin plans out for you.
Common Conditions Treated with Invisalign
Invisalign can be used to correct any number of bite and teeth alignment issues, including:
- Spaced teeth
- Crowded teeth
- Overbite
- Crossbite
- Underbite
Invisalign Advantages
While many patients may have previously avoided orthodontic treatment with conventional braces, Invisalign offers a number of advantages over traditional orthodontic treatments.
Comfort
Invisalign aligners are made of smooth, clear plastic so there is no metal to rub or poke against soft oral tissues such as your cheeks and lips.
Removable
Because Invisalign aligners are removable, there are no food restrictions that often accompany conventional metal braces. Just remove the aligners during mealtime and you may eat whatever you’d like.
Easy Clean
Unlike traditional metal braces that trap food and can be difficult to clean, Invisalign aligners are easy to clean and can be removed during your routine brushing—helping you maintain good oral hygiene.
Subtle
As its name suggests, Invisalign is practically invisible. With the transparent aligners, most people won’t even know you are progressively aligning your teeth.
Fewer Appointments
Invisalign follow-visits are limited to approximately every six weeks and don’t require frequent appointments for painful tightening or adjustments.
Less Time
While traditional braces can take years, Invisalign treatments can be considerably shorter. Also, provided you wear your Invisalign aligners for the recommended 20-22 hours daily, treatment with this system can be just as effective as traditional metal braces.
How Invisalign Works
Invisalign treatment involves wearing a series of clear aligners that are custom-made for your individual condition.
A series of impressions and three-dimensional digital images will allow Dr. Mulkin and the Invisalign lab to fabricate your personalized aligners. Each set of aligners is designed to progressively shift your teeth into a properly aligned position.
You swap your aligners for a new set approximately every two weeks. While Invisalign aligners may be removed for eating and cleaning, you will need to wear them at least 22 hours per day in order to achieve results.
